Is your community a living wage community?
There are more than 374,000 families and 477,000 individual full-time wage earners living in poverty in Canada. Many more work part-time or shift work and are also unable to make ends meet. Communities throughout the world have begun to lobby on behalf of these “working poor” and many municipalities across Canada are taking steps towards supporting and developing living wage strategies for their communities.
A number of municipalities have already adopted or are in the process of adopting a living wage ordinance. The following map shows communities across Canada that are currently working on living wage campaigns.
